First Article in Catholic New York: "Young Voices"

I wrote a Letter to the Editor of the Archdiocese of New York Newspaper, Catholic New York, and my article, "Young Voices" was chosen to be published in the August 3, 2017 paper; XXXVI. NO. 24. I had read a beautiful article from the previous publication on one of my favorite saints, St. Maria Goretti, entitled “Maria Goretti, Model of Courage”.  I hope that I will one day be able to write another article for them; so stay tuned.

Catholic New York is one of America's largest Catholic newspapers, and I am excited that the first piece that I have submitted for publication for the paper was accepted by them. The piece that I wrote was a positive review of an article on St. Maria Goretti.  I hope that at least some Catholic millennials were inspired by it because often articles that focus on the positive aspect of something are overlooked, and instead articles with a negative spin or gossipy edge are shared throughout social media.

Here is an excerpt from my piece:

"Regarding Claudia McDonnell’s column, “Maria Goretti, Model of Courage” (CNY, July 20), I was able to celebrate the Feast of St. Maria Goretti at Holy Family Church on Staten Island with the members of the Goretti Group. We gathered to celebrate this young woman who gave her life to protect her own purity, deeply valued because of her Catholic faith. St. Maria Goretti, as the patron saint of young people, purity and forgiveness, is a saint to be commemorated by the young people of our time."
