Poem for Women Discerning Religious Life

This is a poem that I wrote when I first started discerning religious life. One day after mass praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament was when I felt deep in my heart that God wanted me to consider the religious life as my vocation. These are the words that I felt inspired by the Holy Spirit to write describing how I felt when I prayed to the Lord to let me follow His will. It was then that I was no longer afraid to  follow my heart and to open myself to the plans that God has for me.

A yearning of the heart
and an awakening of the soul,
a thirst that can only be quenched
within a hallowed home.

The burning desire of an unsatisfied spirit,
and a never ending lust for an eternal love.
A beauty of verse awakens the embers
of a passionate fire.

A pause for devotion in the solemn, silence
ignites a sacred romance.
The everlasting light, a perpetual flame
flickers before the golden dwelling place.

The true presence inspires a hunger
for everlasting glory,                                                                                                                                 and a vision of the divine paradise.
